NBA Twitter reacts to OKC’s win over Boston: ‘Young players with old souls’
The OKC Thunder defeated the Boston Celtics 127-123 last night, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading the way with 36 points and seven assists.
Oklahoma currently sits in the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference with a 23-9 record, one game behind the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to an incredible game in Oklahoma.
The OKC Thunder are young players with old Souls… the way they’re connected on both ends of the floor is a beautiful thing to see. They have a lot of SIGNATURE wins this season and they are LEGIT title contenders. That are definitely Standing on Business!!! Carry on…

Shai had 36 points on 70.53 TS% last night where the Celtics had All-NBA defenders taking turns trying to stop him lol. https://t.co/CH2JwmU1K4

Watching that Celtics/Thunder game gave me some uncharacteristic existential Mavs dread. I believe in Playoff Luka if/when Dallas gets there, but man these other rosters just have so much more talent overall.

Think people have been way over-indexing on the idea of this iteration of the Thunder needing a trade for a superstar to contend for a title for a while. Have talked about it on the podcast a lot.
Think if something presents itself, sure. But they don't need it, either.

The Thunder over the past three weeks have beaten the Nuggets in Denver twice, blew out the Timberwolves, blew out the Clippers, comfortably beat the Knicks, and tonight they took out the Boston Celtics
Good luck to the rest of the NBA pic.twitter.com/fSWZkPDpXD

1 game out of the #1 spot in the West.
Beat a Celtics team that had won 6 straight.
5 straight wins – longest streak in the NBA.
Next up: Trae Young and the Hawks tomorrow night.

It's worth asking: Are the Thunder actually NBA Finals contenders as currently constructed?
OKC's on pace for 59 wins, has the #3 net rating in the league, and has already defeated the Celtics, Wolves, Nuggets (twice), Suns, Lakers, Warriors (three times), Mavs, and Clippers. https://t.co/sGU6Qpy3QX
