Neil Doncaster questioned over 'costly' Rangers vs cinch sponsorship row

Neil Doncaster has had his say on the "costly" sponsorship row between Rangers and cinch.

The SPFL chief executive was grilled on the dispute between the club and the league's sponsors which resulted in an apology from the league following legal action from Ibrox. Gers argued that their deal with Park Motor Group prevented them from advertising a potential rival and that was ratified last year.

Gers would receive an apology and compo for their legal costs and now Doncaster, speaking on BBC Scotland, has revealed how the pair's relationship has improved since an agreement was reached. "It's certainly important to look forward rather than back - we've drawn a line under it," Doncaster said. "I'm delighted with the way that we have been able to work with all of our member clubs, including Rangers, in relation to a number of issues since drawing a line under that dispute.

"It's been very helpful having James Bisgrove on the board. I think he and John Bennett are doing what they can to strengthen relationships across the whole of the game and I think that is good for all of us at a time when you are out in the market with sponsorship - to have everyone on the same page is fundamentally important."

Asked if the SPFL enjoys a better working relationship with the club now under a new regime of Bennett and Bisgrove, Doncaster added: "It's an interesting question, but I'm sure you'll forgive me for saying I want to look forward."
