Newcastle player ratings as star scoops 10/10 to win toughest man of the match contest of season
Newcastle United pulled off a fantastic 1-0 win over Arsenal thanks to Alexander Isak's power header at St James' Park.
The win poured more cold water on any talk that Eddie Howe is not the man for the job on Tyneside as Howe punched the air at the final whistle. There were plenty of star performers on the day including Isak, Lewis Hall, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock and Anthony Gordon.
Newcastle grabbed the lead with 12 minutes played. A sublime first time cross saw Isak rise above both centre-backs and send a power header past David Raya to send St James' Park into raptures. Howe exploded into life in the dugout knowing that a training ground routine had paid off in the early stages.

Here's how the players rated:
Nick Pope 8
Organised his defence will and paused the game with intelligence to hold out for the 1-0 win and clean sheet.
Tino Livramento 7
Glided through the game and timed his tackles well. Looked like he suffered cramp towards the end.
Fabian Schar 8
A steady shift with some classy touches. Skated on thin ice well despite the booking.
Dan Burn 7
Battled hard and justified his selection after overcoming dip in form at Chelsea last week.
Lewis Hall 9
A Rolls-Royce performance at left-back. Offered plenty going forward with some excellent tackles and clearances. Had fans singing his name and rightly so.
Bruno Guimaraes 8
This was his best game of the season as he played with purpose in midfield and won free-kicks in a clever manner to relieve pressure.
Sean Longstaff 8
Newcastle have not looked back after picking the North Shields lad. This was a full-blooded display in which he put in half a dozen tackles.
Joe Willock 8
Another who deserved to start and his energy and threat on the counter was there for all to see.
Joelinton 8
The powerhouse gave it his all regardless of where he ended up on the field. His tackles and blocks were immense.
Anthony Gordon 10
What a cross. What a performance and what a player. Ran the game essentially.
Alexander Isak 9
The Sweden star is finally getting some service. And made no mistake in the first half with a wonderful header Alan Shearer would have been proud of.
