Newcastle United stand to make millions more from international TV rights in the coming years.

At Friday's Premier League meeting, where the majority of shareholders voted through changes to APT rules, clubs were informed that the overall revenue of the competition is set to increase by 17%. Total broadcast and commercial income, as a result, will rise from £10.5bn in the current three-year cycle to £12.25bn between 2025 and 2028.

Overseas deals will bring in a whopping £6.5bn, which represents nearly a quarter rise on the previous three-year cycle, and the Times report that clubs have signed off on another bumper TV deal for countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Newcastle could be among those sides who actually stand to benefit most from this increase, if the Magpies continue to challenge the established order, as half the money from any rise in total overseas rights is distributed based on where a club finishes in the table.

Newcastle took home £72.2m from international broadcasters when the black-and-whites finished in fourth in 2023 - only Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United made more - and returning to the Champions League brought with it added exposure for Eddie Howe's team. In the U.S., for instance, Newcastle were involved in three of the top 10 most watched Champions League fixtures on Paramount+ from CBS Sports' coverage of the group stages after both of the black-and-whites' games against AC Milan and the home win versus PSG made the cut.

Newcastle's global broadcast figures increased by 40% year-on-year last season and the Magpies have visited Japan, the U.S., Saudi Arabia and Australia in the last 16 months alone as the club look to grow their following. Peter Silverstone, Newcastle's chief commercial officer, stressed 'our growth will come globally' just a few days ago.

"We have got to project everything we do globally," he told fans at a STACK event. "Darren [Eales] talked about Eddie and the players and the way that they play, the style of play and St James' Park. That is projected globally whenever we play. it is an incredible atmosphere which is continually voted the best atmosphere in the Premier League. Fans around the world are seeing that and want a bit of that."
