Newcastle United have fresh injury concerns to add to triple England headache
Newcastle United did not emerge unscathed from the win at Nottingham Forest as England sweat over the fitness of Anthony Gordon ahead of clashes with Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
The Magpies forward limped out of Sunday's 3-1 win at the City Ground in the closing stages, with Eddie Howe unconvincing with his post-match response on the issue.
“It looks like a similar problem to one he had a few weeks ago with his hip. We hope it’s not serious but I don’t know yet, I’ve not spoken to him," he told reporters. "I’d say he’s a doubt because he’s come off.”

Gordon's issue may not be the end of England's problems. Both Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka suffered injury issues in Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday evening, with Mikel Arteta also taking a dim view on their chances of linking up with the Three Lions.
"It doesn't look good because for two players of that importance to say they want to come off is unusual," Arteta told reporters after the match. "I don't expect them to be fit [for the international break] because if not, they don't come off."
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has also been left perplexed by Jack Grealish's England call-up due to the fact the winger is currently sidelined for his club.
Newcastle defender Emil Krafth missed Sunday's victory, failing to make the matchday squad on the road. The Swede has since withdrawn from international duty and is facing his own spell on the sidelines.
Krafth and his international team-mate Eric Smith both pulled out of Sweden's upcoming Nations League clashes on Sunday evening, being replaced by manager Jon Dahl Tomasson for Emil Holm and Samuel Dahl. It is the second time in three months Krafth has been forced to withdraw from representing his country.
Newcastle now have 14 days to prepare for the visit of West Ham United at St James' Park, with the players not jetting off with their countries set to train in Saudi Arabia in the coming days.
