BRUNO Guimaraes and Joe Willock will be assessed in the coming days after the Newcastle midfield duo were forced off during Monday night's frustrating home defeat to West Ham United.

Willock was replaced at half-time after getting a knock to his leg in the first half when he collided with teammate Sean Longstaff as the pair slid in to make a defensive block.

And captain Bruno then felt a problem with his glute in the second half and was replaced late on.

"There's slight concern at this moment in time," said Eddie Howe.

"We don't know the details of their injuries so we'll wait and see. Hopefully nothing too serious."

Newcastle's winning run came to a frustrating end against the Hammers, who sealed all three points thanks to goals from Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Newcastle thought they'd opened the scoring early on but Alexander Isak's goal was disallowed for offside. And the Magpies were then denied a penalty in the second half when the returning Callum Wilson, who was introduced from the bench, clashed with Konstantinos Mavropanos,

Howe said: "Callum's penalty I thought was a tight call but I'd need to see it again. That's just an instant reaction from me.

"The offside goal I thought looked really tight. I was expecting it to take longer and hopefully drop in our favour but it didn't so we have to accept it."
