Newcastle United star Alexander Isak and his Swedish team-mates have been forced to fly back to Stockholm after their international training camp in Marbella was derailed by yet more dangerous weather in Spain.

Sweden had jetted across Europe ahead of upcoming clashes with Slovakia and Azerbaijan but torrential rain in the region has derailed those plans, with players receiving red weather warnings on their phones overnight.

“I got a little worried. You’ve seen in other cities in Spain how it’s been, so it wasn’t very fun. Hopefully it won’t be too crazy,” Isak said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Sweden team-mate and Tottenham youngster, Lucas Bergvall, speaking to Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen, added: "It was chaos. Rain chaos. With thunder and all that. We had to stop early."

Sweden are hoping they will be able to leave the country and jet home to restart their preparations before hosting Martin Dubravka's Slovakia on Saturday evening. The Magpies' goalkeeper will reach 50 caps for his country with an appearance in the Nations League clash.

Isak missed Sweden's October internationals through a broken toe but has returned to form with a bang for Newcastle, netting four for four in all competitions. The last time the forward joined up with fellow countrymen he netted three in two games against Azerbaijan and Estonia.

Newcastle co-star Emil Krafth won't be linking up with his internationals team-mates for the double header after withdrawing with a suspected broken collar bone. The defender missed Sunday's win at Nottingham Forest and is set for a spell on the sidelines.
