Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon injury update as EIGHT leave England squad

Anthony Gordon has joined up with the England squad for the UEFA Nations League clashes with Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

The Scouse star suffered a hip injury in the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest but got the green light to join up with stand-in manager Lee Carsley's squad for the November international fixtures. Although, Gordon will be continually assessed and the two medical teams from England and United will remain in touch.

Confirmation of Gordon's call-up came as Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento was also included in Carsley's squad after a host of withdrawals. Indeed, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are all deemed "unavailable" by the FA.

An England statement read "Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has received his first senior call up.

"Jarrod Bowen and Jarrad Branthwaite along with the uncapped Tino Livramento and James Trafford have also been added to Lee Carsley’s squad.

"This follows the loss of eight players ahead of this week’s UEFA Nations League fixtures.

"Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are all unavailable.

"A 23-man squad will now prepare for Thursday’s trip to Greece and Sunday’s match against Republic of Ireland at Wembley."

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe had said: "It looks like a similar problem to one he had a few weeks ago with his hip. We hope it’s not serious but I don’t know yet, I’ve not spoken to him

"I’d say he’s a doubt because he’s come off."

But a smiling Gordon was pictured checking into the England HQ at St George's along with Livramento and new cap Lewis Hall.
