Tim Walter has been given the dreaded vote of confidence by Hull City owner Acun Ilicali after a dreadful start to the season has seen the Tigers sink to the edge of the relegation zone.

City return to action after the international break on Saturday and will take on Luton Town, suddenly a rival at the bottom end of the Championship given both teams are only separated by goal difference and two places.

That trip to Kenilworth Road will kickstart the busiest run of action in the whole season from now until the next international break in the second half of March, which also see the Tigers begin their FA Cup campaign in early January.

The next 10 games will take City all the way into the New Year and that run of fixtures will go a long, long way to determining how their season will play out, because from that point, there will only be 21 games left, whilst also potentially having an impact on what business they can do in January.

Here's a look at the next ten before Leeds United visit the MKM Stadium on January 4 to allow for the FA Cup third round....

November 23 - Luton Town - Kenilworth Road

Two struggling teams separated by goal difference and two places. Some have dubbed the game 'El Sackico', with both managers under increasing pressure. The Hatters, fresh out of the Premier League, will almost certainly provide a physical test within the tight confines of Kenilworth Road, but a game City cannot afford to lose.

November 26 - Sheffield Wednesday - MKM Stadium

City have already been humbled by the Owls this season, with Danny Rohl's reserves winning at the MKM Stadium in the Carabao Cup way back in the first week of the season. Walter must target revenge against a side at this stage, sitting just three points above them in the table, and with bragging rights on the line.

November 30 - Middlesbrough - Riverside Stadium

Boro are in and around the top six, as you'd expect, and this will naturally prove to be one of the toughest assignments of the season. But City can take inspiration from their dramatic win on Teesside 12 months ago.

Few will give the Tigers much hope against Boro away from home, but two defeats and draws so far, has shown Michael Carrick's men can be got at in front of their own fans.

December 7 - Blackburn Rovers - MKM Stadium

Rovers have enjoyed a good start to the season under John Eustace and are deservedly knocking on the door of the top six, But away from Ewood Park, they've not enjoyed a huge amount of success, and if the Tigers are to get away from danger, this has to be a home victory.

December 11 - Watford - MKM Stadium

Perhaps one of the surprise packages of the season. Tom Cleverley's side are firmly entrenched inside the top six as we head back into Championship action. But away from home, they've been all or nothing. Two wins and six defeats suggest it might not be a stalemate.

December 14 - Coventry City - CBS Arena

The sacking of Mark Robins shocked football and left Coventry fans raging with owner Doug King. His departure even saw numerous Tigers fans call for him to replace Walter. As it stands, the Sky Blues are only a point above City and the importance of this one cannot be underestimated.

December 21 - Swansea City - MKM Stadium

Another home game against a side in mid-table will present City with another game they simply have to be winning, and in the process, give their suffering supporters some festive cheer in their final home outing of what has been a dispiriting 2024 on home soil.

December 26 - Preston North End - Deepdale

Few would have had Deepdale on their Christmas wishlist, and if recent visits to this part of Lancashire are anything to go by, it's hardly going to be a festive cracker as fans recover from the festivities of the previous day. For City, it's another game against a side in and around them at the bottom end of the table.

December 29 - Blackburn Rovers - Ewood Park

Having met them only a couple of weeks earlier at the MKM Stadium, City will round off 2024 with a second successive trip to Lancashire against one of the form sides at home. Rovers have notched five wins in front of their own fans in their eight so far, but the Tigers have fond memories of winning here last season.

January 1 - Middlesbrough - MKM Stadium

The New Year kicks off with the visit of Boro a month on from their meeting on Teesside. The tenth game of a hectic run, so it remains to be seen where the Tigers will be by the time Carrick's men arrive for that teatime kick-off. Last term, City were well beaten at Sheffield Wednesday on a shocking New Year's Day at Hillsborough, and they'll be hoping to get 2025 off to a good start, especially with Leeds United the visitors a couple of days later.
