Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham LIVE!

Tottenham beat Forest with goals by Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski for a second straight win that nudged them closer to the Premier League top four on Friday, even after they had midfielder Yves Bissouma sent off late on.

Ange Postecoglou's Spurs team started the season in scintillating form before being hobbled by injuries but got back on track with a 4-1 home win over Newcastle and followed that with victory in a tricky-looking game at the City Ground.

Driven on by captain Heung-min Son, the visitors looked the slicker side from the start and were duly rewarded when Richarlison guided home a header in first-half stoppage time from a brilliant Kulusevski cross.

Kulusevski sealed the win himself in the 65th minute when he picked up a loose pass from Forest keeper Matt Turner, sidestepped Moussa Niakhate and smashed the ball into the net.

Forest got a boost when Bissouma was shown a red card after a VAR review for a dangerous foul five minutes later but were unable to cut the deficit, extending a winless run to six games.

Tottenham made it back-to-back wins by getting the better of Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

Dejan Kulusevski teed up Richarlison for the opener late in the first half before adding the second himself, for a Spurs side which had to survive playing the final 20 minutes with ten men after Yves Bissouma's red card.

Forest demand a penalty for Destiny Udogie finding himself between Neco Williams and the ball.

It would have been mighty harsh, he's just stood there as Williams knocks the ball and runs into him.

Heung-min Son booked for sending Ryan Yates to the ground after Forest break out from defending a corner.

All hands to the pump now for Tottenham, they are defending deep and leaving Heung-min Son up front to try and spark a counter.

Unsurprisingly, the City Ground has gone pretty flat now.

Danilo and Chris Wood thrown on for Willy Boly and Cheikhou Kouyate by Steve Cooper.

GGGOOOAALLL!! Nottingham Forest 0-2 Tottenham | Kulusevski, 65'

21:26 , Marc Mayo

HUGE ERROR!

Poor ball out from Matt Turner and Dejan Kulusevski buries it!

The goalkeeper might have thought he could save that one, too...

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Tottenham | 62 mins

21:24 , Marc Mayo

CHANCE!

Superb block from Orel Mangala denies Dejan Kulusevski in Spurs' first proper chance of the half, before Heung-min Son and Richarlison are denied in the crowd.

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Tottenham | 60 mins

21:21 , Marc Mayo

Steve Cooper tries to rally the crowd after the disappointment of the disallowed goal.

Forest have certainly been on top since the break.

DISALLOWED!

21:20 , Marc Mayo

Indeed, that is offside by a good yard.

Four or maybe even five Forest players are off there, VAR saves the day for Spurs. Hard to argue with it.

VAR check!

21:19 , Marc Mayo

No chance that stands.

GGGOOOOAAALLLL!!! Nottingham Forest 1-1 Tottenham | 59 mins

21:18 , Marc Mayo

ANTHONY ELANGA!

Neco Williams drifts in a low cross for the Swedish striker to bury...

Will VAR agree that he was onside?

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Tottenham | 56 mins

21:16 , Marc Mayo

Better ball in from Morgan Gibbs-White demands a forceful punch by the goalkeeper at the far post.

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Tottenham | 54 mins

21:15 , Marc Mayo

Good run by Anthony Elanga forces a corner for the hosts, who have been pretty average from set plays tonight.

They've scored just once from them all year, in fact.

This one isn't going to end that stat, it's headed clear at the near post.

Morgan Gibbs-White tries to bust past Pape Sarr in the next move and wins a foul for a shirt pull, yellow card for Sarr.

Dan Kilpatrick at City Ground

21:12 , Marc Mayo

Stand-in centre-half Ben Davies has been outstanding for Spurs. Has he been wasted at left-back all these years?

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Tottenham | 48 mins

21:10 , Marc Mayo

CHANCE!

A superb ball by Anthony Elanga loops over the entire Spurs defence and finds Willy Boly on the edge of the box...

The big defender takes it down and slaps a shot over the bar like a big defender does.

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Tottenham | 46 mins

21:08 , Marc Mayo

Looks like we're in for a similar pattern to the first half, Forest sitting deep and trying to chase down Spurs' possession near the final third.

However, when Tottenham carry the ball towards Forest's danger areas they drop deep.

Cristian Romero is caught and avoids a booking for felling Cheikhou Kouyate.

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Tottenham | Kick-off!

21:05

We're back underway at the City Ground with no changes at the break.

Sums it up for Nottingham Forest

21:00

Having made themselves arguably the better of the two teams going into half-time, Forest and Steve Cooper will say it is just their luck that they are a goal down.

Still, that Dejan Kulusevski cross is an accurate representation of the difference in quality between the two teams.

Forest failed to make the most of Spurs' sloppy spells and must find a way to rally.

What to make of that half from Spurs

20:57 , Marc Mayo

Well, Ange Postecoglou may well be telling his players to forget much of what happened in the first 95% of that half.

Tottenham were pretty ragged after a promising start, allowing Forest to get on top of them with an urgent press.

But the goal changes everything and an opponent suffering from low confidence is there for the taking if they can step up a gear after the break.

Highlights: Richarlison goal late in the half

What a delivery from Kulusevski and what a time to score from Spurs. The visitors have the breakthrough in first-half stoppage-time, despite one of their most ragged 45 minutes of the season.

GGGOOOOAAALLLL!!! Nottingham Forest 0-1 Tottenham | Richarlison, 45+2'

RICHARLISON DOES IT AGAIN!

Dejan Kulusevski swings in a superb cross form the right flank and the Brazilian just nudges it past Matt Turner flying off his line.

Four minutes added on.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 44 mins

20:45 , Marc Mayo

Some meaty blocks thrown in by home players as Tottenham attack, and the away end isn't happy at Harry Toffolo following through with both feet on Pedro Porro after winning the ball.

It actually looks like the Forest man came off worse though, and we play on.

No No10? No problems for Spurs...

Heung-min Son swings in a sweet cross and Pedro Porro pops up to head at goal! He glances an effort wide.

Up the other end, Oliver Skipp is second to a loose ball but escapes a booking.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 34 mins

20:34 , Marc Mayo

Dejan Kulusevski goes wide right with Spurs now into a 4-3-3, with Oliver Skipp more of a box-to-box midfielder than a No10.

Spurs need to be careful here, Forest have upped their energy levels as the visitors get a bit lax.

Dan Kilpatrick at City Ground

20:33 , Marc Mayo

A cruel twist for Johnson, who appears to have suffered a nasty cut to the head on his return to the City Ground.

After some minor boos during the game, he gets a standing ovation from the Forest fans, who sing 'he's one of our own'. Spurs' injuries woes continue. Skipp is on.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 32 mins

20:33 , Marc Mayo

"He's one of our own," sing the home fans as Brennan Johnson gingerly walks off.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 31 mins

20:32 , Marc Mayo

Spurs will make the change, Brennan Johnson suffering from a head injury and he'll be replaced by Oliver Skipp.

Appears to be a bit bloodied but the Welsh striker is sat up before being helped to his feet.

That's a concussion sub, so won't count towards Tottenham's allotted five.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 30 mins

20:30 , Marc Mayo

A new injury for Spurs, to add to the list.

Oliver Skipp is ready and waiting while Brennan Johnson receives treatment in the Forest box. He initially strips off but sticks his vest back on to continue his warm-up.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 27 mins

20:28 , Marc Mayo

The flag goes up to save Guglielmo Vicario's blushes after he makes a hugely unconvincing flap at a ball bouncing into his box.

It was Cheikhou Kouyate nearly diverting it past the Italian, but he commits handball before Vicario weirdly opts to punch. A bit of pinball is ended by the referee's whistle.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 25 mins

20:25 , Marc Mayo

CHANCE!

Free header for Ben Davies by the six-yard line, he perhaps jumps a touch too early and gets under it. Over the bar.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 23 mins

20:24 , Marc Mayo

SAVE!

Matt Turner dives to parry Brennan Johnson's slow, bobbling effort that looked bound for the bottom corner.

Dan Kilpatrick at City Ground

20:23 , Marc Mayo

Pape Sarr has twice lost the ball with risky cross-field passes to create openings for Forest. It's what Postecoglou wants from his players - risks, rather than mistakes - but Spurs' looseness is making this game more open than it needs to be.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 23 mins

20:23 , Marc Mayo

Horror pass inside his own half from Pape Sarr, not his first sloppy moment of the night, but Ryan Yates cannot break the line to get a shot on goal.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Tottenham | 21 mins

20:22 , Marc Mayo

Scrappy contest, this.

Richarlison crowded out by the box and goes down, but wins nothing.

Spurs need a spark, Forest need a foothold.

Guglielmo Vicario is equal to Anthony Elanga's effort one-on-one... but the flag goes up after the Forest breakaway.

Brennan Johnson has his first action of the night and earns a sarcastic cheer from his old fans by skying an effort from a tight angle.

Dan Kilpatrick at City Ground

There's a lively atmosphere here tonight, with Forest fans determined to get behind under-pressure boss Steve Cooper.

The returning Brennan Johnson is getting some mild boos but hasn't been involved much, with most of Spurs' attacks coming via Son down the left.

Pedro Porro's free-kick comes to nothing but a sweet crossfield pass minutes later sends Heung min-Son in behind.

Potentially offside, he handles it as the defender gets tight and a free-kick goes to Forest.

Not much from the hosts yet, who are finally putting Spurs under pressure in possession. Pape Sarr makes an error but it comes to nothing.

A really good reception for Forest boss Steve Cooper as he came to take his place in the dugout.

It's a big Friday night affair under the lights on the banks of the River Trent!

Steve Cooper is fighting for his job and it feels like every point will be vital for Tottenham's top-four run.

Here come the teams...

Brennan Johnson primed for lift-off on Forest return

19:53 , Marc Mayo

Brennan Johnson returns to Nottingham Forest tonight still waiting for lift-off after his £47.5million move to Tottenham on deadline day.

He has already scored for Spurs, though his early goal against Wolves was quickly forgotten after a stoppage-time defeat, and crossed for Dejan Kulusevski's equaliser in the breathless 3-3 draw at Manchester City.

The Wales forward has been effective and frustrating in equal measure so far, and the 22-year-old was particularly disappointing in the defeat by West Ham last week.

Ange Postecoglou believes Johnson needs 'a moment' to give him the belief and killer conviction the head coach demands from his players in the final third — and last weekend's 4-1 win over Newcastle suggests it is coming.
