Arsenal supporters have called for Ollie Watkins to be signed after his England heroics against the Netherlands.

The Aston Villa star scored England's winning goal as they defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in the Euro 2024 semi-final after a sensational comeback, booking a place in the final. Gareth Southgate's side will face Spain on Sunday after reaching back-to-back European Championships final.

Netherlands' Xavi Simons scored the opening goal in the seventh minute before England were awarded a penalty. Denzel Dumfries was adjudged to have fouled Harry Kane 'recklessly.'

The England captain made no mistake from the penalty shot and later made way for match-winner Watkins. The Villa star netted his first goal in the tournament in the 90th minute.

Speaking after the game, Watkins said: "Unbelievable. I’ve been waiting for that moment for weeks. It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to where I am now. I’m grateful I got the opportunity and I grabbed it with both hands and I’m delighted.

"I swear on my life, on my kids’ lives, I said to Cole Palmer ‘We’re coming on and you’re going to set me up’ and that’s why I was so happy with Coley, I knew as soon as he got the ball he was going to play me. You’ve got to be greedy, touch and shoot and when I see it going into the bottom corner it’s the best feeling ever."

Watkins has been linked with a move to the Emirates in the past, with the Villa star understood to be a Gunners supporter. Previously speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I used to [support Arsenal]. I grew up supporting Arsenal but it's a different story now playing against them. Not too much to say really."
