Omar Marmoush has clear transfer choice between Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea

Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush is the latest player to be linked with a host of top Premier League clubs. However, while Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be interested in signing the Egypt international, a move to Liverpool would be the striker's “dream”.

That’s according to Bild, who (per Paisley Gates) have said that Marmoush is hoping to “succeed fellow countryman Mohamed Salah in Liverpool”. The duo have played 26 games together for Egypt, so the 25-year-old can certainly get an insight on life at Anfield should he need one.

It was reported by Sky Germany last month that initial talks have already occurred, with the Reds supposedly willing to pay up to $65m (£50m/€60m) to secure the versatile forward. Per Transfermarkt, Marmoush has played in five different positions this season already.

As he predominantly features on the left, he would likely not represent a replacement for Salah should the Liverpool legend choose to move on at the end of 2024/25. But Marmoush has a lot of the characteristics the Reds look for when signing players, certainly on the business end of a deal at least.

He will be 26 at the end of this season, approaching his peak, and entering the final two years of his current deal. Bild have reported Frankfurt are looking to increase his annual salary from $2.7m (£2.1m/€2.5m) to $3.8m (£2.9m/€3.5m) but even at that higher level he would be one of Liverpool’s lower paid players.

Marmoush also looks ready to explode in terms of output, a common factor among many of the forwards that Liverpool signed in Michael Edwards’s first stint with the club. The Egyptian delivered 16 non-penalty goals and assists in the Bundesliga last season yet has contributed 11 in just eight games in 2024/25. He is clearly making a step up and the Reds would potentially be able to help him rise further still.

His skills don’t stop with goal contributions, as important as they obviously are. Per FBRef, Marmoush is in the Bundesliga’s top six players or better for successful take-ons, progressive carries, fouls drawn (for which he’s also seventh across Europe’s big five leagues) and carries into the penalty area.

It is little wonder Chelsea and United are interested, even if the scattershot transfer strategies employed by those clubs makes it seem like they are trying to sign anybody and everybody. If Marmoush has his heart set on Liverpool as claimed, the Reds’ Premier League rivals will need to look elsewhere.
