Who is Omar Marmoush? Mo Salah teammate linked with bargain Liverpool transfer

Liverpool could make a swoop for in-form Bundesliga forward Omar Marmoush, with Mohamed Salah's international teammate potentially available for a cut-price transfer.

The Reds currently boast a plethora of options in attacking positions but question marks remain over the future of their Egyptian talisman at Anfield. Havin entered the final year of his current deal on Merseyside, it remains to be seen whether the 32-year-old will remain at the club beyond the end of the campaign.

Either way, it appears that Liverpool's recruitment chiefs are already looking at options in terms of reinforcements in the forward line. That is according to CaughtOffside, who have claimed that Eintracht Frankfurt striker Marmoush is purportedly on the radar of Kop deal-makers - with the marksman on the market for a meagre $33 million (£25m).

The center-forward has experienced a purple patch in front of goal during the early weeks of the new campaign, scoring nne times in as many outings in all competitions. Eight of his strikes came in the league, with a double against Bayern Munich also doing his burgeoning reputation no harm.

This was his third brace in the Bundesliga so far this season already, with the 25-year-old having also contributed six assists so far this term. The 32-time international has spent the whole of his professional career in Germany, starting off with Wolfsburg - where he scored six times in 48 outings.

Following loans with St. Pauli and Stuttgart, he eventually headed to Frankfurt, where he has flourished following his switch at the start of last season. The striker scored 17 times in all competitions last year across his 41 appearances - with 12 of these strikes coming in the league.

It is claimed that the Reds have been monitoring the Egyptian, with Manchester United, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Arsenal also keeping tabs on his availability. According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, via BILD, his current employers are eager to tie down the forward to a new contract.

Currently his deal runs until 2027, so Frankfurt would be under no pressure to sell necessarily, with the journalist also claiming on Twitter/X that it would be unlikely that the player departs in winter. However, it should be noted that the reporter has claimed that Marmoush is stalling on signing a new contract.

Frankfurt's director of football, Markus Krosche recently addressed the future of his club's most prized asset, saying: "It is true that Omar made a very clear commitment to us in the summer. He has developed well and still has a lot of potential to develop further.

"For us, we don’t want to lose so many key players. I have to honestly say that no Eintracht player is unsellable but we want to keep the team together. I talk about Marmoush after every game. But that’s a good thing. Omar gives our game an incredible amount."
