'Options and clauses' discussed ahead of Leeds United transfer possibility in January
An impression continues to be made on Preston North End ahead of the January transfer window by Sam Greenwood. The 22-year-old has started the last eight games on the bounce for Paul Heckingbottom’s side and proven to be a key player in attack.
Up to now, no player in the squad has bettered his six goal contributions in the Championship this season. Greenwood agreed to a season-long loan with the Deepdale outfit in the summer, but, given how well he has done, talk in Lancashire has turned to a more permanent arrangement.
Heckingbottom likes working with the former Arsenal youth and expects there will be more to come from him. The former Leeds boss sees a desire in Greenwood to train, play and improve with a strong work ethic which will hold him in good stead.

"Listen, I like Sam," Heckingbottom told Lancashire Post. "When you talk about options and clauses in contracts, there's all sorts.
“It is not as simple as that, but if I am just looking at Sam, a young player, the attributes he has, then yes, I like working with him and there is more to come, but he loves football, loves training and playing.
“He wants to play and there is a desire there to work and improve and he's also got a really good work ethic in terms of that role within a team. So yes, we've been pleased with him."
It remains to be seen what kind of clause Preston may have, but with a loan agreed until the end of the season and all parties surely happy with how the loan is going, it seems unlikely anything will change. That is, unless, Preston fear a different club swooping next summer.
