Paddy McNair Rangers transfer link as Ibrox move 'likely to appeal' despite foreign interest

Paddy McNair is a transfer option for Rangers and it's one that is "likely to appeal" to the player, according to a report.

The Northern Ireland international has left Middlesbrough after six years with the Championship club, with no new contract being offered. He is therefore available on a free transfer and Gers, Robbie Keane’s Maccabi Tel Aviv and Italian side Como all credited with an interest by the Belfast Telegraph.

A boyhood Rangers fan, the reports adds that the prospect of moving to Ibrox would be appealing to the 29-year-old centre-back who has 67 caps for his country. McNair recently took to social media to confirm he would be moving on from Boro at the end of his deal.

He said: “After six years and 219 appearances, my time (at Middlesbrough) has come to an end. Big thank you to all of the players, staff and the fans for the support throughout the years. Looking forward to the next chapter.”

He has been hampered a little by injury this season but still managed 25 appearances. McNair's former clubs are Manchester United and Sunderland.
