Pape Sarr makes bold claim about Tottenham's Champions League hopes ahead of Chelsea clash

Pape Sarr believes Tottenham will secure Champions League football if they win their remaining matches

Tottenham Hotspur's Pape Sarr has told his teammates that winning their remaining five matches this season will be enough to overtake Aston Villa and secure a Champions League spot for next season.

Despite there being no mathematical certainty, Sarr remains optimistic. While Villa are set to face Olympiacos in the first leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final tie on Thursday night, Spurs are preparing to take on Chelsea.

Currently, Spurs trail Villa by seven points after recent losses to Newcastle and Arsenal. However, with two games in hand, they could reduce the gap to four points with a win at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Villa still control their own destiny, as winning their remaining matches would ensure they can't be overtaken.

But Sarr is confident that if Spurs can secure 15 points from their remaining fixtures - which include challenging trips to Chelsea and Liverpool, as well as a home game against Manchester City - they will finish 'high enough'. However, they'll be relying on Brighton, Liverpool or Crystal Palace to do them a favour in this scenario, reports Birmingham Live.

"The most important thing is to win all our matches," he told Sky Sports. "If we win all our matches, we'll finish high enough. Our objective now is to win all our matches and finish as high as we can. The aim is absolutely to win these matches.

"We have to win our remaining matches to finish this season in the best way possible. Next season will also be here before you know it and if we can manage to put a few wins on the bounce together, that will put us in the best position possible for next year."
