Olympics Opening Ceremony 2024: When is it and everything to know

For the first time ever at the Summer Olympic Games, the Opening Ceremony won't be held in an arena or stadium, but on a river.

Delegations from more than 200 countries will parade down the Seine for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on Friday. The ceremony will mark the "official" start of the Summer Games, though competition started as early as two days prior for soccer and rugby.

As has been the tradition since 1928, Greece will lead the parade procession. They will be immediately followed by the Refugee Olympic Team before transitioning to a full alphabetical list of the participating countries. The final three nations this year are the host of the 2032 Summer Games (Australia), the host of the next Summer Games (United States) and the current year's host (France).
