Paul Gascoigne backing Rangers over Tottenham in Europa League as Ibrox icon left flabbergasted by £800 bill
Paul Gascoigne will give Rangers his full backing when they come up against Tottenham later this year.
Ange Postecoglou returns to Scotland with his Spurs side, as the Celtic boss faces the Ibrox cauldron once again but this time in the Europa League. It will be a massive occasion under the lights in Govan for Philippe Clement and his troops in the first of two Battle of Britain clashes with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United to come at the start of 2025.
But Gazza has explained his shock at the North London club trying to charge him £800 for a pair of tickets - and it is one of the main reasons why he will be cheering AGAINST Spurs. The former England international turned out for both clubs in his career but Rangers will get his full backing as he hailed the 'fantastic' fan base and expressed his gratitude for the 'love' they have for him.
Speaking to sportscasting.com, Gascogine said: “At Rangers I’m welcomed in every way. Whereas at Tottenham, I asked for a couple of tickets and they said ‘that’ll be £400 each.’ I was like, wow, with all I did for that club?
"I made the right choice in going to Rangers, the fans were fantastic and they love me up there. When they play Spurs, I'll be a Rangers fan.”
Rangers are Tottenham go head to head on matchday six of the competition. The Light Blues have so far defeated Malmo on the road and lost out to Lyon at Ibrox. Spurs are two for two to date with victories over Qarabag and Ferencvaros.
Before the pair meet, Clement and Co will come up against FCSB at home before back to back away trips to Olympiacos and Nice. For Spurs, it is AZ Alkmaar and AS Roma at home with a trip to Turkey to face Galatasaray sandwiched in between. It is then all eyes on Ibrox on December 12 for the big showdown.
