Pep Guardiola breaks silence as new Man City contract confirmed with twist
Pep Guardiola says he is ready to win more trophies for Manchester City after signing up until 2027.
The club have confirmed that the manager has signed a two-year deal that will take his stay at the Etihad to 11 years if he sees out the new contract. It follows months of speculation about his position where many thought this season would be his last in Manchester, only for Guardiola to find the energy and drive to commit to more years; those close to him believe he wants to rebuild the team before he leaves.
“Manchester City means so much to me. This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together," he said.

"I have a really special feeling for this football club. That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons.
“Thank you to everyone for continuing to trust and support me – the owner, the chairman Khaldoon, Ferran, Txiki, the players and of course the fans… everyone connected to Manchester City. It has always been an honour, a pleasure and a privilege to be here.
“I have said this many times before, but I have everything a manager could ever wish for, and I appreciate that so much. Hopefully now we can add more trophies to the ones we have already won. That will be my focus.”
City have lost their last four matches in all competitions - the worst run in more than eight years of Guardiola's time at the club - but they have also won the Premier League for the last four seasons in a row and are still well-placed in second ahead of a time of year where they usually hit their stride with no international break until March. They host Tottenham on Saturday at the Etihad as they look to end their recent slump.
