Philippe Clement brutally trolled by Celtic TV commentary as Rangers boss the butt of 'toe nail' VAR one liner
It was a perfect day for Celtic at Hampden as they demolished Aberdeen to reach the Premier Sports Cup final.
And amid the jubilant atmosphere, the Celtic TV commentary team couldn't resist aiming a jab across the city at their rivals - specifically Rangers boss Philippe Clement. It was a relentless performance from Brendan Rodgers' side as they smashed six past Dimitar Mitov to secure their spot in the showpiece final at the national stadium.
Amid the rout Peter Grant was in a playful mood on commentary as he took veiled a dig at the Belgian boss. Following Nicolas Kuhn's fifth goal in Mount Florida, VAR would check for a potential offside involving Arne Engels in the build-up the stunning striker.
Amid the wait for the off-field team to green light the goal, Grant quipped: "A definite toe nail." Fellow commentator Gerry McCulloch laughed:“ Those toe nails are important.”
The jab is in reference to Clement's claims following the defeat to Aberdeen on Wednesdat. Ross McCausland had the ball in the net but the linesman in the VAR ruled the strike out for Cyriel Dessers role in the build-up.
The Rangers boss said after the game: “In points we should, for sure, be further ahead but if the toe nail wasn’t there it was 2-2 today. It also decides the perception after - it’s not that Aberdeen blew us away."
