The Premier League has released an image of the new winter ball that will be used for upcoming league matches over the winter months.

As is traditional, a high-vis ball is used during the matches where the darkness closes in earlier, to aid the visibility for players and fans. The Premier League has now released an image of the ball that is being used on their Instagram account.

Posting a picture of the Nike ball, they added the caption: “Bringing the heat on cold winter days, Introducing the new @nikefootball Hi-Vis 2024/25 Premier League ball. Available now!”

The ball has a traditional yellow base colour with a pink and purple pattern. The Nike Swoosh in the middle is also pink.

There is no confirmation yet of when the ball will be used for the first time this season. Although it’s not expected to be too long with the winter closing in.

The period where the ball is used could be a key one in all areas of the table. For Arsenal, they will look on December as a chance to pick up maximum points, with the month including games against winless Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town as well as matches vs Everton and Fulham.

January looks trickier on paper with an away game against Brighton, followed by a double header at home vs Tottenham and Aston Villa. The month starts with a visit to Brentford on New Year’s Day.

For Chelsea, December starts with a home game against Villa and also includes a trip to Tottenham. It does however see Chelsea travel to Southampton and Everton where they would expect to pick up all three points.

It’s a similar story for Spurs, with the visit of Chelsea and Liverpool. Ange Postecoglou’s men also take on Southampton and Wolves, both of whom are winless so far this campaign.
