Premier League launch David Coote investigation after alleged X-rated Liverpool rant leaked
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) are investigating a video circulating on social media that allegedly shows David Coote disrespecting Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp.
The video surfaced online on Monday, days after the official took charge of the Reds' 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield. In light of the encounter, the referee has come under fire for his decision-making during the contest, which saw Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah fire Arne Slot's side to the top of the Premier League.
The video appears to show Coote, with another man, discussing Liverpool and, in particular, their former manager. With the 42-year-old supposedly using expletives to describe the club and words of a derogatory nature to the Premier League and Champions League-winning tactician.

Coote has been a Premier League referee since 2018, having overseen EFL games for eight years before that. In Saturday's clash between Liverpool and Aston Villa, there were a host of key talking points. Leon Bailey was adjudged to have not fouled Mohamed Salah, despite being the last man, in the build-up to the opener.
Unai Emery's side also had three penalty appeals waved away, including a coming together between Ibrahima Konate and Ollie Watkins - as well as two complaints from Pau Torres in the box.
Liverpool, the Premier League and the FA have all been contacted for comment.
