The Premier League players injured on international duty
The international break is over and players are beginning to make their way back to their clubs ahead of the weekend’s Premier League action.
Some do so with a spring in their step after a successful time away with their country, others may limp into their training grounds.
As is the case with any break – and much to the frustration of club managers and those who pay the wages – a number of Premier League players have picked up injuries during their time away.

Yahoo Sport looks at all the top-flight players injured during international break – and how serious their knocks may be.
Arsenal
Lucas Torreira – Substituted at half-time of Uruguay’s 3-1 victory over Mexico due to a calf problem. Not expected to rule him out for long though, with photos of him training posted by Arsenal. Could even play against Newcastle.
Bournemouth
Ryan Fraser – Reportedly picked up a knock while training with Scotland and wasn’t included in their squad for their victory over Albania. No indication over the seriousness of it, but must be considered a doubt for the Leicester clash.
Burnley
Stephen Ward – Played 61 minutes of Ireland’s heavy defeat to Wales, before pulling out of the squad after the game due to a foot injury. Had a niggle all season and may well need a couple of weeks on the sidelines to put it right.
Crystal Palace
Christian Benteke – Pulled out of Belgium’s squad prior to their thrashing of Scotland with a knee injury that he appears to have picked up in training. No news on the extent of it, but the striker appears unlikely to face Huddersfield
Everton
Seamus Coleman – The Ireland skipper seems to have had no luck with injuries in recent years and he suffered a stress fracture in his foot against Wales, which will keep him out for a number of weeks.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – The young Englishman came off the bench for England U21s against Latvia but lasted just ten minutes before limping off. Not clear what he has done yet and given the Toffees’ numerous injury problems, it couldn’t come at a worse time
Liverpool
Adam Lallana – Another injury setback for Adam Lallana, who pulled out of the England squad with a groin problem. He is expected to be available for the crunch clash with Spurs, whether Jurgen Klopp risks him or not is another question.
Simon Mignolet – Second choice keeper Simon Mignolet was one of three Premier League players forced to withdraw from the Belgium squad, he has a wrist injury.
Manchester United
Luke Shaw – The England full-back suffered concussion following a nasty landing in the defeat to Spain and is highly unlikely to play against Watford. Has to follow ‘return to play’ protocol before being given the green light.
Marouane Fellaini – The final member of the trio of players to withdraw form the Belgium squad, Fellaini had a back problem. It is not expected to keep him out of the Watford clash.
Tottenham Hotspur
Dele Alli – After featuring for Gareth Southgate’s side against Spain, Dele Alli withdrew from the squad ahead of the Switzerland friendly. Almost certainly will be fit for the mouthwatering clash with Liverpool.
