Premiership POTY candidates revealed as Celtic and Rangers stars joined by divisional rival

The four candidates for the PFA Scotland Premiership Player of the Year have been revealed.

Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley had a particularly strong first half of the season and has continued to contribute since, helping him make the list alongside Jack Butland from across the city at Rangers. The goalkeeper has been in top form after his free transfer to Ibrox and picked up two awards at the club's own awards night last night.

Hearts captain and top scorer Lawrence Shankland joins them after a stunning season which has seen him notch an impressive 28 goals to date. Several pundits have already named him as their pick for POTY. And the final nominee is another from Ibrox, with captain James Tavernier their top scorer with 24.

The PFA award is voted for by the players themselves and all for nominees were named in the Team of the Year last week.

The winner will be revealed and be able to pick up his gong at the awards night on Sunday May 5.
