Liverpool are now only one month away from the start of the new Premier League season.

The Reds will be hoping to enjoy a successful campaign under new boss Arne Slot, building on the third-placed finish delivered by Jurgen Klopp during his final act as manager.

Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo became the latest players to re-join first-team training this week and those still away on international duty will soon be back in the fold as Slot awaits a first look at his full squad.

Liverpool continue to be linked with a whole host of names in the meantime, though it remains to be seen who ends up at Anfield this summer.

Below is a round-up of the latest news relating to the Reds.

Thiago theory

Thiago Alcantara announced his shock retirement from football earlier this week, weeks after it was confirmed he would be leaving Liverpool as a free agent.

It remains to be seen what the Spanish star chooses to do next with his life after hanging up his boots, with some suggesting he could explore the management route.

Video footage captured in his native country showed Thiago arriving at Barcelona's training ground, fuelling speculation he could be joining the backroom staff of his former employers.

Ex-Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick was recently appointed as the club's new coach following Xavi's exit.

Yilmaz claim

The chairman of Turkish club Ankara Keciorengucu has claimed Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz is a target for Liverpool this summer.

Yilmaz, formerly of Keciorengucu, was recently linked with a move to the Reds after impressing in his home country. Since signing for his current club in 2021, he has helped Galatasaray to two league titles and one Super Cup.

Yilmaz's old club are paying close attention to possible interest in the winger after negotiating a sell-on clause as part of a deal with the reigning Turkish Super Lig champions three years ago.

Discussing the prospect of the 24-year-old being snapped up this summer, Ankara Keciorengucu chairman Sedat Tahiroglu said: "We have 20 percent of Baris Alper Yilmaz's share but Galatasaray has not requested a meeting with us on this issue.

“I hear Liverpool and Arsenal want him but I know Nuri Sahin definitely wants him. I don't think the price will be €50m. He can be sold for around €30m.

“The path needs to be paved for young people for Turkish football. Hopefully he will make the decision that is good for him. The money is not important. The important thing is for Baris Alper to go to a team where he will be successful because he will be the face of Turkey."
