These pros missed the cut at the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship
LOS CABOS, Mexico – FedEx Cup points are a precious commodity these days as the 2024 season winds its way to a close.
Tiger Woods owns the longest consecutive cut streak with 142, one of those records that likely will never be broken, and on Friday, Chad Ramey channeled a bit of Tiger and grinded to make the cut on the number.
Ramey, who opened with 76 at El Cardonal at Diamante, rallied with three birdies in his final five holes, including a must-make at the last, to shoot 66 and squeeze his way into the weekend.
He ended up being one of 69 players at 2-under 142 or better. They’re all chasing Colombia’s Nico Echavarria, who is seeking to win consecutive tournaments (with a week off in between). Not everyone could handle the swirling wind on Thursday or get the putts to fall on Friday.

Here’s a look at some of the players who were headed home early from the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship.
Taylor Moore (1 under)
It was a tale of two nines for Taylor Moore this week at El Cardonal. He played the front nine in a cumulative total of 6 under with 7 birdies and an eagle. The bad news is that he played the back nine in a total of 5 over and not a single birdie to be had. He shot 74-69 to miss the cut by one.
Moore, who entered the week at No. 64 in the FedEx Cup points, likely will lose some ground in his pursuit of moving into the Nos. 51-60 position in the point standing and earn a place in to early-season signature events.
Neal Shipley (1 under)
Give credit to Shipley, he never quit.
Playing on a sponsor invite, Shipley made a nine on the fourth hole of his tournament and then added to his misery with a triple-bogey 7 at 13 en route to shooting 76. On Friday, he fought hard, making five birdies and an eagle to shoot 67, but it was one stroke too many. It’s just his second missed cut in 10 starts this season, including two as an amateur.
Patton Kizzire (1 under)
This is back-to-back missed cuts for Kizzire, the winner of the Procore Championship in September. This missed cut will bother Kizzire because he was cruising along at 4 under and tied for the lead through 11 holes on Thursday. Then the wind got the better of him and he signed for 72. He went 21 holes between birdies and by that time it was too late.
S.H. Kim (2 over)
The South Korean entered the week at No. 113 in the FedEx Cup so a missed cut is going to hurt his chances of finishing in the top 125. Kim shot 78 on Thursday, which included two triple-bogey 7s and a double. He shot 68 on Friday but the 10-stroke improvement wasn’t enough. He’s made just one top-10 finish this season back at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in May. He's projected to drop to No. 126 in the FedEx Cup Fall and be on the odd man out for full status.
Dylan Brack (2 over)
Brack, an 18-year-old Monday qualifier after shooting 64, showed he can hang pretty well despite looking no more than age 13 on a range full of 20- and 30-somethings. We told you earlier this week about his Tiger ties. He made six birdies and shot 74-72--146 and did himself proud. Expect to hear more from this promising young man.
Keith Mitchell (3 over)
Mitchell is trending in the wrong direction of late with his third straight missed cut. That hasn’t helped his quest to play his way into ignature events at Riviera and Pebble Beach, two of his favorite courses on Tour, by finishing Nos. 50-60 in the Fall points list.
Mitchell finished with three bogeys on his final four holes Thursday to shoot 3-over 75. A triple-bogey 7 on 13, his fourth hole of the day, pretty much sealed his fate.
But Mitchell did have one highlight, an ace on Thursday night at a sponsor event at the Oasis Short Course.
Cameron Champ (4 over)
Champ has been more of a chump of late, shooting 77-71. He missed his third cut of the fall and also has a WD. It’s been that type of season, which included seven missed cuts in a row earlier this season. He entered the week at 164th in the point standings and he's running out of time to sneak into the top 125.
Billy Andrade (4 over)
Andrade, who hadn’t played on the PGA Tour in 11 years, was a late addition as a sponsor invite. The 60-year-old put up a good fight with caddy Mark "Ziggy" Zyons by his side, wrapping up their 27th season together. Andrade shot 75-73 and missed the cut in 861st career start.
Alejandro Tosti (7 over)
Tosti was coming off four rounds in the 60s in Las Vegas in his last start but was blown away on Thursday, shooting 82 despite four birdies. He rallied with a 69 on Friday but the damage was done.
Tosti has missed three cuts in five starts during the Fall series and entered the week at No. 129 in the standings.
On Thursday, he hit just nine fairways and he was 1-for-10 in scrambling. He had two doubles and a triple on the card. It was his 14th missed cut in 26 starts this season.
Robert Garrigus (11 over)
Garrigus is headed home early but the fact that he got into the field in the first place is a story worth telling.
When Garrigus failed to Monday qualify, he stuck around for a vacation with his girlfriend. But then Cameron Young withdrew allowing Sean O’Hair to get into the field. O’Hair was on the range on Tuesday. But on Wednesday, Bud Cauley withdrew but neither Cody Gribble nor a half-dozen other players could get a flight to Cabo before the first round tee time on Thursday. Eventually, Garrigus got the call that he was in. It marked just his second Tour start of the season and first since the Cognizant Classic in March. Garrigus’s girlfriend even served as his caddie but Garrigus’s good fortune didn’t result in a payday. He shot 79-76 and missed the cut.
