PSG vs Newcastle LIVE!

Kylian Mbappe struck a controversial penalty deep in stoppage time to earn Paris Saint-Germain a 1-1 draw against a valiant Newcastle and keep their Champions League destiny in their own hands on Tuesday. The visitors had led the Group F clash since midway through the opening half thanks to Alexander Isak's tap-in and they weathered a furious late assault from the hosts.

Newcastle keeper Nick Pope made several great saves and his side were poised to claim a remarkable double over PSG, after their 4-1 home win, when referee Szymon Marciniak gave the French club a penalty for handball against Tino Livramento.

Mbappe stepped up and sent the ball high past Pope to earn a crucial point for Luis Enrique's side who are second in the group behind already-qualified Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund top the group on 10 points, with PSG on seven. Newcastle and AC Milan both have five points.

Kylian Mbappe made no mistake.

Changes to the handball law?

22:20 , Marc Mayo

This week, the game's lawmakers IFAB have been having a meeting in London.

And this was part of their report: "The ABM also considered potential clarifications for the Laws of the Game 2024/25, including a possible amendment to Law 12 (Fouls and Misconduct), according to which handball offences for which penalties are awarded would be sanctioned in the same way as fouls."

It couldn't come soon enough...

Kylian Mbappe vs Nick Pope...

21:57 , Marc Mayo

It bounces off Tino Livramento's chest onto his arm in the box. It'd be harsh...

The referee trots back onto the pitch and GIVES IT!

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 90+6 mins

VAR is checking as we await a potential restart.

To the screen! Szymon Marciniak has been advised to check this one over.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 90+5 mins

21:55 , Marc Mayo

Newcastle are defending really well here, onto every second ball and block they can manage.

No good at keeping the ball, mind.

Now PSG want a handball! Booking for Goncalo Ramos for dissent. Will need a second look at this.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 90+3 mins

21:53 , Marc Mayo

Another corner with not much trouble for Newcastle before Marco Asensio fires over from the edge of the box.

If you saw Tottenham vs Aston Villa on the weekend, that was exactly where Giovani Lo Celso scored from. Asensio, not so much.

Nick Pope booked for timewasting at the restart.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 90+1 mins

21:52 , Marc Mayo

Bradley Barcola gets right underneath a teasing cross to the far post and skies a huge opening.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 90 mins

The away end roars in delight for a Marco Asensio whack that flies off target.

We will have EIGHT additional minutes.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 89 mins

Miguel Almiron booked before a long ball upfield is quickly dealt with by the hosts.

All a bit frantic as Newcastle scramble a corner away with stoppage time coming up...

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 87 mins

Kylian Mbappe expertly bounces his defender before a shot off the midriff of Nick Pope... the rebound is then rifled inches wide!

Attacking change for PSG as Goncalo Ramos replaces Danilo Pereira.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 83 mins

21:43 , Marc Mayo

Marco Asensio on for Lee Kang-In and Miguel Almiron is taking treatment for Newcastle.

No substitutions yet at all for Eddie Howe, who in fairness hasn't got much of a bench.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 82 mins

21:42 , Marc Mayo

Lovely swivel and driven cross by Ousmane Dembele but no striker there to tap it home, Kieran Trippier clears.

Then it's Lucas Hernandez bombing on... Jamaal Lascelles with the clearance.

Once again PSG come forward with Dembele firing wide!

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 80 mins

21:41 , Marc Mayo

Into the last ten minutes and it's all being played on the edge of PSG's final third.

Alexander Isak is stationed in front of a bank of four and a bank of five in the Newcastle box.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 78 mins

21:38 , Marc Mayo

Newcastle have barely had an attack all half yet they still seem pretty comfortable, all things considered.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 76 mins

21:36 , Marc Mayo

Nick Pope out quickly again to latch onto Kylian Mbappe's run on goal.

The striker couldn't quite control it enough to threaten the superb Pope there.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 72 mins

21:33 , Marc Mayo

Fairly hopeful shout for handball in the Newcastle area. Falls on deaf ears.

Might have popped up on Lewis Miley? VAR doesn't fancy it.

Gianluigi Donnarumma booked for protesting.

It's all getting a bit feisty!

Around the grounds

21:31 , Marc Mayo

Borussia Dortmund are heading through, they're 3-1 up at AC Milan thanks to Karim Adeyemi.

Probably the best result for Newcastle as things stand.

We also have a leveller from Man City, Phil Foden makes it 2-2 with RB Leipzig.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 70 mins

21:30 , Marc Mayo

Szymon Marciniak waved away the initial call from the hosts as Achraf Hakimi went down under Anthony Gordon's pressure.

It would have been real harsh.

The referee stops play to let VAR check it, but then waves play back on! Good officiating there, it has to be said. Certainly not a clear and obvious one, even if it's tight.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 68 mins

21:29 , Marc Mayo

PSG want a penalty... no dice!

But VAR is asking for a look!

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 68 mins

21:28 , Marc Mayo

Bradley Barcola again in the thick of it, slipped down the left channel but he oddly looks to place it at the near post and hits the side netting.

Just getting a replay of that earlier save, a real beauty from Nick Pope's knee.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 66 mins

21:26 , Marc Mayo

Bradley Barcola turns a Kylian Mbappe cross goalwards and somehow Nick Pope denies the young winger.

Around the grounds

Borussia Dortmund back ahead at AC Milan, through Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

Erling Haaland has also halved Man City's deficit against RB Leipzig and Barcelona now lead Porto.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 63 mins

21:23 , Marc Mayo

The thinking from PSG with that change is to get Kylian Mbappe into the middle.

They had to do something, really.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 62 mins

21:22 , Marc Mayo

It's Kieran Trippier alongside Fabian Schar at the free-kick, off the wall and over.

Once again it's Trippier at the corner but a free-kick goes to PSG as the ball comes in.

Time for some changes from Luis Enrique. Vitinha on for Manuel Ugarte and Bradley Barcola replaces Randal Kolo Muani - a surprise not to see Goncalo Ramos there!

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 60 mins

21:20 , Marc Mayo

Another PSG yellow card for the count as Anthony Gordon skips past Milan Skriniar and wins a free kick in a good spot.

That's four bookings for the French side!

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 59 mins

21:19 , Marc Mayo

Tino Livramento next to show up with some great positioning and determination in defence for Newcastle.

He gets himself between Ousmane Dembele and the ball, winning the race and hitting the deck.

Boos from the PSG fans, booking for Dembele.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 57 mins

21:17 , Marc Mayo

Finally Les Parisiens provide some spark and Nick Pope is off his line to deny Ousmane Dembele.

A bit of a scramble after the rebound but Newcastle escape.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 54 mins

21:14 , Marc Mayo

Superb stuff from Bruno Guimaraes, onto Lee Kang-In like a flash as he lines up a shot before winning a free-kick for a pull of his shirt.

The PSG man is booked.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 50 mins

21:10 , Marc Mayo

Perfect start to the half for the Magpies really, no great surge or push from PSG out of the dressing room.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 47 mins

21:08 , Marc Mayo

Opening for Alexander Isak but he just can't pull the trigger in the box... chance goes.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | Kick-off!

21:05 , Marc Mayo

It's time for the second half in Paris!

No changes for either side.

Second half coming up

21:04 , Marc Mayo

Perhaps the biggest 45 minutes of Newcastle's campaign not far away now.

Delight for the Geordies

Alexander Isak the hero so far, but will one goal be enough?

This game could explode with both defences vulnerable.

Newcastle may well benefit from going for it after the break...

Not good for Les Parisiens

20:56 , Marc Mayo

PSG have lacked the killer instinct in attack and just look a little soft in defence.

Plenty of potential in them but they haven't delivered yet, sound familiar?

Around the grounds

20:53 , Marc Mayo

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are level at the San Siro in the othe Group F game.

Olivier Giroud missed a penalty before Marco Reus put the visitors ahead from 12 yards, although Samuel Chukwueze has since netted for Milan.

Trouble at the Etihad as RB Leipzig lead Manchester City 2-0.

Atletico Madrid lead Feyenoord and Barcelona are level 1-1 with Porto.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | Half time!

Fabian Schar blocks an Ousmane Dembele shot in the six-yard box after Kylian Mbappe ghosts in behind.

What a let-off...

PSG pushing hard before the whistle - but Dembele fires over and that is the break.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 45+2 mins

20:48 , Marc Mayo

So nearly for Alexander Isak!

Milan Skriniar loses the battle chasing a ball over the top yet just manages to stick a boot on it as Isak looked to break in on goal.

There are some afters between them too...

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 45 mins

20:46 , Marc Mayo

The board goes up for three minutes as the away team win a corner.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 44 mins

20:45 , Marc Mayo

A couple of hopeful hits from deep keep Nick Pope on his toes, the first deflecting wide of his opposite post before Fabian Ruiz drives the ball into his midriff.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 42 mins

20:43 , Marc Mayo

Lee Kang-In leads a dangerous counter-attack but Ousmane Dembele's wild cross is nice and easy for Nick Pope to catch.

The Toon are good value for their lead here.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 40 mins

20:41 , Marc Mayo

Into the final five minutes of the half and PSG have dominated possession of late but Newcastle are looking good at the back.

Around the grounds

20:40 , Marc Mayo

AC Milan are level at the San Siro, courtesy of Samuel Chukwueze. That would mean the four teams are only separated by TWO points going into the last game - if these scores stay the same.

Manchester City also 2-0 down at home to RB Leipzig...

Highlights: Alexander Isak goal to break deadlock

20:39 , Marc Mayo

Great moment for the Toon. Keeper should do better, of course!

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 36 mins

20:37 , Marc Mayo

Ongoing PSG possession fails to yield a shot on goal and Miguel Almiron breaks out, beating Manuel Ugarte and taking a whack for his troubles. Yellow card.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 32 mins

Nick Pope gets down well with excellent reach to scuffle away Ousmane Dembele's dainty roller towards the far corner.

Kylian Mbappe second to the rebound and Newcastle survive.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 31 mins

20:32 , Marc Mayo

A sight of goal in the Magpies' box but Lewis Miley is back to block well.

Just a sign or two that PSG are getting back into this one.

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 28 mins

20:29 , Marc Mayo

Manuel Ugarte whacks a hopeful volley at the away goal... it goes high, high and higher.

PSG have always fancied themselves as winning this competition. As things stand, they'll be going to Borussia Dortmund outside the top two!

PSG 0-1 Newcastle | 26 mins

20:27 , Marc Mayo

Have to say, both Lewis Miley and Tino Livramento also were key to that goal.

It was also a pretty tame shot that Gianluigi Donnarumma kindly palmed straight to Alexander Isak - who had gambled on a rebound.

Easy finish. The away end goes wild!

GGGGOOOOAAALLLL!!! PSG 0-1 Newcastle | Isak, 25'

20:25 , Marc Mayo

Great work by Bruno Guimaraes to battle for the ball in midfield before Newcastle work it right.

A looping cross reaches a black and white shirt...

It's worked well - a shot is saved and ALEXANDER ISAK! HE'S THERE TO SCORE!

PSG 0-0 Newcastle | 23 mins

Joelinton booked after getting beaten by Lucas Hernandez inside his own half.

The free-kick drifts all the way back to Ousmane Dembele... swiped over.

A couple of goals in Manchester City's group where the holders are a goal down at home to RB Leipzig. Young Boys also ahead vs Crvena Zvezda.

Atletico Madrid lead Feyenoord in Group E, a result which would rubberstamp themselves and Lazio in the last-16.

PSG 0-0 Newcastle | 18 mins

20:19 , Marc Mayo

No real pressing game from PSG while Newcastle knock the ball around the middle third.

With their ridiculous pace up front perhaps the Ligue 1 leaders are content to conserve their energy and hit them on the counter...

PSG 0-0 Newcastle | 15 mins

Good little period by Newcastle in response to PSG's early chances.

PSG 0-0 Newcastle | 13 mins

Miguel Almiron steals the ball by the PSG corner flag and a cross into Alexander Isak is poked over by the Swede.

That HAD to hit the target.

Around the grounds

20:13 , Marc Mayo

Marco Reus' penalty has put Borussia Dortmund ahead at AC Milan.

Olivier Giroud missed an earlier spot-kick.

Is that good news or bad news for these two? Too early to tell!

PSG 0-0 Newcastle | 11 mins

20:12 , Marc Mayo

Fabian Ruiz the next to pop up in the box as Randal Kolo Muani breaks out wide to feed the midfielder.

PSG creating at will here, can they get a deserved opener?

PSG 0-0 Newcastle | 9 mins

20:10 , Marc Mayo

Beautiful flick by Randal Kolo Muani sends Achraf Hakimi through the right on the counter...

He picks out Kylian Mbappe in the middle whose cheeky finish is saved by Nick Pope! HUGE save.

PSG 0-0 Newcastle | 8 mins

That's perhaps a reaction to PSG conceding twice at home to Monaco on the weekend.

Vitinha also drops out for Lee Kang-In and Randal Kolo Muani gets the nod up top ahead of Goncalo Ramos.

Score prediction

Newcastle have not been able to kick on since that win over PSG last month, as back-to-back defeats to Borussia Dortmund halted the momentum.

PSG have won seven of their eight matches since their defeat in England and have been particularly strong at home. The Magpies are not the same team on the road as they are at St. James' Park, and it would be a major shock if they took anything from this match.

PSG to win, 3-1.

Early Newcastle team news

Joe Willock missed Newcastle's win over Chelsea due to a recurrence of an Achilles injury and will miss out again in Paris, with Eddie Howe potentially without 14 first-team players as the injury crisis shows no signs of easing.

Sean Longstaff has not travelled either, and the likes of Harvey Barnes, Dan Burn, Sven Botman and Callum Wilson all remain unavailable.

Alexander Isak's return against Chelsea was a significant boost and he can be expected to start again.
