Queen of the South Ladies beaten 4-0 by Bonnyrigg Rose at Palmerston on Sunday
QoS Ladies 0 Bonnyrigg Rose 4
Queen of the South Ladies had their final fixture of the year when they took on Bonnyrigg Rose Ladies at Palmerston on Sunday under the floodlights.
Queens more than matched their opponents in the first half and came close to taking the lead when striker Lois Geddes bullied the Bonnyrigg defenders to create an opening. The ball rebounded from the keeper and rolled tantalisingly towards the line but a Bonnyrigg defender managed to reach it just before it crossed the line and flicked it away for a corner.

In a fairly even first half, Queens created a number of decent chances that should have been taken, and the Queens defence kept Bonnyrigg at bay. Half-time arrived with the scoresheet still blank.
The second half started badly for Queens with Bonnyrigg taking a 53rd minute lead. The home team tried to regain the initiative and came close with a Charlotte Bryden header from a corner, but it was Bonnyrigg who got the vital second goal with an excellent strike from distance looping over keeper Lois Kerr’s hands and dropping in just under the bar.
Bonnyrigg were playing with confidence now and they added a third with what looked like a cross from the left that dropped in, again just under the bar.
Queens tried to regroup and pull something back, but their attacks were breaking down and passes were going astray. Bonnyrigg completed the scoring with their fourth goal in the 86th minute.
Queens will feel that they could have taken something from this game, but they need to be more ruthless with their chances, however, full credit to Bonnyrigg who looked a very well organised team.
Queens now have a break from competitive games until January 12 when they travel to Dundee to take on Dundee West Ladies.
