Rangers Player of the Year awards revealed as Goal of the Season and top gong announced

Rangers held their player of the year awards this evening.

The Ibrox club managed a narrow 2-1 victory over St Mirren in Paisley earlier today to tee up their dinner tonight in a good mood and they packed into the venue in their finery to applaud the best from their squad under Philippe Clement. A number of gongs were up for grabs and it was a case of the expected, perhaps, when it came to the victors and the individual trophies handed out.

Captain James Tavernier, for example, lifted the Men's Top Goal Scorer award thanks to his 24 in all competitions that has already seen the club lift the Viaplay Cup earlier this term.

Goal of the season was another that had plenty of contenders but the strike from winger Rabbi Matondo for both pure skill as well as importance against Celtic earlier this month led the way following the scintillating 3-3 draw.

Connor Goldson may have been benched in recent weeks but he won the John Greig CBE Achievement Award to commemorate his time and effort at Ibrox over his six year stint so far.

Women's Player of the Year was won by Kirsty MacLean while Jack Butland - perhaps expectedly - picked up the Player's Player of the Year as well as the Player of the Year gong. Ross McCausland was named Young Player of the Year.

Cole McKinnon lifted the Academy Player of the Year award.
