Rangers have struggled for goals this season under Philippe Clement - but they are reportedly working to address that situation.

The stats don't lie for the Light Blues and after 11 rounds of Scottish Premiership fixtures they've netted just 16 times.. Unbeaten top two Celtic and Aberdeen lead the way but the damning reading comes after that with Dundee United, Dundee and St Mirren finding the net more than the Ibrox side with St Johnstone level on goals scored this term to date.

The pre-contract loophole market down south is one clubs north of the border have exploited in the past and one report from Rangers news claims the Ibrox side have had scouts watch 'unplayable' Kwame Poku at Peterborough. The 23-year-old forward netted a hat-trick in the demolition job of Cambridge United in England's League One - but a number of English Premier League and Championship clubs are also said to have a keen eye on the attacker.

Posh boss Duncan Ferguson has not given up hope of getting his top star to pen fresh terms at the club but concedes it will be 'very tough' to convince him with interest rising due to his stunning form. Goals have been a problem for Rangers but not for Poku who has 10 to his name this term on top of seven assists in all competitions - showing he has an eye for goal and the ability to also create chances.

Talking about his asset, Ferguson told the Peterborough Telegraph: “Kwame is just unplayable at the moment. I would hate to play against him. He needs to give someone else a chance of winning player of the month. They’ll have to rename it the Kwame Poku Trophy!

“The boy is unplayable at the moment, he’s just so good. He deserves all the plaudits and all the credit. That's why we had to keep him in the summer. There were offers for him and there will be more offers for him. We’re trying to keep him and have offered him a new contract. Me and the chairman are trying our best, but it will be very tough and you can see why.

“If you watch him, the stats don’t lie. I’m just enjoying working with the boy. He will admit though that it wasn’t just about him yesterday as it was a very good team performance.”

Meanwhile, Ryan Kent remains on the hunt for his next club after leaving Fenerbahce. A number of clubs have been linked to the former Rangers winger south of the border including Leyton Orient, Leeds United and Preston in recent times.

Carlton Palmer reckons a move to join Paul Heckingbottom at Deepdale could prove his most sensible option as due to his links with the current boss and the more likelihood of guaranteed match minutes. He told Football League World: He said: “Ryan has worked with Paul Heckingbottom before, they previously worked together at Barnsley in the 2016/17 season. There are a host of clubs chasing his signature. Obviously, having that relationship with Paul Heckingbottom will aid (Preston’s chances).

“There are going to be a lot of people who are interested in Ryan Kent. He’s not one of those players that you look at and think, ‘Right, ok, he’s not got a club at the moment because nobody wants to sign him.’

“His contract was paid up, and he can’t sign for another club until January. He’s a different kettle of fish. I can see Leeds moving for him big time in January, depending on their injury situation and who’s coming back.

“With the clubs that are interested in him, you want to go to clubs that are up near the top of their respective leagues. But also, from Ryan Kent’s point of view, he wants to play, so it might well be that teaming up with Paul Heckingbottom, going to Preston and being guaranteed playing week-in, week-out would be a better option for the player.”
