Reading boss Ruben Selles has admitted that he has no news to update supporters with in regards to the protracted takeover of the club.

Up for sale from Dai Yongge for over 13 months, the Royals remain locked in talks regarding a takeover but little progress is evident as Christmas rolls around the corner.

During an international break in which supporters called for more communication from the club, Selles has admitted that he has nothing to share but that he has been involved in meetings with the hierarchy.

Former CEO Nigel Howe had previously been the club's leading figure in the sales process, however he is currently serving an FA ban for dealings related to a player agent.

Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday's clash with Peterborough United, Selles said: "I have been involved in a couple of meetings and our CEO is on it with negotiations and there is no news from my side. Every day that passes is a little bit more difficult. We talk about it but there is nothing that we can control, the only thing we can control is keep doing our job, focussing on football and trying to win football matches.

"We need to keep the fans on our side, on the excitement of football, and go one more day to make the club attractive for whoever would like to come. Right now, on the football side, the boys are working really hard, and we are enjoying watching them play. Sometimes we win and sometimes we don’t win but we always show that we can compete against anybody. That is the only way we can support the club, winning football matches and keeping the club in the category and play exciting football that people want to watch.

"It has been 18 months and we’re still talking about the same thing so hopefully when something is done or positive we will get the communication and the club, with a statement, or myself can give you the positive news."
