Ready or Not, Celebs Are Bringing back This Contentious ‘90s Beauty Trend
It's no shock that '90s and '00s beauty and fashion trends have had a strong resurgence lately with the boom of Y2K beauty. One trend in particular that celebs have taken a liking to are skinny brows. The pencil-sharp brows have graced the faces of the hottest names in Hollywood, from Cardi B to Rihanna. This '90s trend is the total opposite of thick natural bushy brows, as it emphasizes super thin, barely there eyebrows. This makeup look was highly popularized by Gwen Stefani and Pamela Anderson, among many other celebrities, as they graced red carpets, movies and music videos in the '90s.
One way of achieving the look is to shave or wax the brow hair super thin, but if you don't want to fully commit to razor brows, you can also use makeup. In the same way that concealer is used to highlight and sculpt the brows, you can also use it to "erase" or hide your brow hairs to get a faux skinny brow look. Next, use an eyebrow pencil to draw and create a super thin arched brow. To lock the brows in place, use a setting powder or setting spray to ensure your new brows won't budge throughout the day. You can even have fun or add a modern twist to the thin brow trend by adding color via dyeing them or using eyeshadow. You can also add face gems around the brow bone for a faux eyebrow piercing to play into the edgy vibes the brow creates.
Below, we've rounded up some of our fave celebrities turned beauty It Girls to showcase their own spin on the 90's skinny brow, from bare-face beauty to avant-garde makeup.
