Trent Alexander-Arnold could be set for a pay cut at Real Madrid, with reports in Spain revealing the details of the contract Los Blancos may offer him.

The Liverpool vice-captain’s future remains up in the air as the clock continues to tick down on his contract, although fears are growing among supporters at Anfield that he will make the move to the Bernabeu in the summer.

Alexander-Arnold’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January. Some reports have suggested Real could even try to sign him during the upcoming transfer window amid their injury crisis, although it appears more likely they will wait to secure him on a free in the summer.

Liverpool therefore needs to act quickly if it is going to get Alexander-Arnold tied down to a new deal before he can come to any agreement with the Spanish giant. According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid has already outlined the details of the contract the defender will be offered.

The Spanish outlet claims the 26-year-old will not sign a new deal at Anfield, with a four-year deal set to be offered to him in Madrid. The details of how much he would earn at the Bernabeu have also been revealed, with it claimed that Alexander-Arnold will be placed on the second rung of the club’s salary scale.

That would mean he would be expected to earn something in the region of $10.6m (£8.3m/€10m) per season, placing him behind the likes of Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham. It’s claimed that the latter has been talking up life in the Spanish capital to his good friend, with Bellingham seen as key to getting Alexander-Arnold adapted to life at Real.

According to Spotrac, Alexander-Arnold currently earns around $11.9m (£9.36m/€11.2m) a year at Liverpool, meaning he could actually have to take a pay cut in order to move to the Bernabeu.

With Dani Carvajal out until at least next October, Alexander-Arnold could have the chance to make the right-back spot his own if he joins the Spanish giants in the summer. The England international though has his own injury problems to worry about at the moment as he faces a race against time to face Real in the Champions League, having been forced off with a hamstring problem against Aston Villa.
