Karim Benzema will lead the line for Real Madrid tonight after being named in the starting line-up to take on Liverpool in the Champions League.

Rodrygo is also in the XI as Carlo Ancelotti picks an attack-minded 4-3-3 setup at Anfield.

Benzema had sat out Saturday’s win at Osasuna as Los Blancos continued to manage his fitness, the striker having struggled with injuries and knocks all season.

But the 35-year-old was simply being saved for the Liverpool game, the first leg of their last-16 tie, and yesterday flew out to England with the Real squad before being pictured in training at the stadium.

Aurelien Tchouameni misses out after withdrawing from Madrid’s weekend game late on due to a virus. Eduardo Camavinga has stepped into the line-up in his absence and continues to do so on Merseyside.

Toni Kroos was a late addition to the squad, after overcoming illness, but is not risked from the start. Ferland Mendy misses out as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury.

Real do have Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard back however, the pair returning for the Osasuna win.

Nacho Fernandez drops to the bench to be replaced by Dani Carvajal at right-back while Dani Ceballos is the man sacrificed for Benzema.

Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Alaba; Valverde, Camavinga, Modric; Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius Jr.

Subs: Lunin, Vallejo, Nacho, Hazard, Kroos, Asensio, Odriozola, Vazquez, Ceballos, Martin, Arribas, Alvaro.
