REGIS LE BRIS has congratulated Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham for successfully avoiding a suspension for picking up five yellow cards.

Having received his fourth booking of the season in October’s win at Luton Town, Rigg would have incurred an automatic one-game ban if he had been booked again ahead of last weekend’s cut-off point. However, the midfielder successfully went seven successive games without another yellow card.

It was the same story for Bellingham, who also picked up his fourth booking of the season in the win at Kenilworth Road. While the England Under-21 international was sent off in last month’s goalless draw with QPR, he emerged from Saturday’s win over Stoke City without having incurred another booking.

“It’s good news because we need them,” said Le Bris, ahead of this evening’s home game with Bristol City. “They are very good on the pitch.

“They had to manage that situation properly. And I think they did well. It's not always easy, especially in the midfield. You have to deal with many chaotic situations. And sometimes you can't avoid a yellow card. I think Jobe was on the edge often, but it was good at the end.”

Rigg was struggling with a back problem at the start of the season, but the injury is now fully resolved, and Le Bris is confident the teenager can withstand the rigours of a packed December schedule.

“Riggy struggled a little bit with his back at the beginning of the season, but so far, it wasn't a problem for him,” said Le Bris. “Yes, the tough conditions show how you can react.

“Because we have many young players, we don't have experience with them. And sometimes by just living this experience, they can show that they can manage this experience very positively.”
