Riccardo Calafiori drops Arsenal transfer hint after £42m talks with new Mikel Arteta wait

Arsenal look to be closing in on their second signing of the summer transfer window with a deal for Riccardo Calafiori. understands that Calafirori hold a significant interest in the defender who has impressed for both club and country over the last few months. Reports suggest that there is an agreement with the player over personal terms , with the Gunners hoping to tie up a deal this week.

Champions League currently plays for Italian side Bologna and helped the team to finish in a join the Arsenal squad for their pre-season tour of America position in Serie A last season. He took his performances to the European Championships where he represented Italy.

Despite his nation falling at the round of 16 stage against Switzerland - a game the defender missed through suspension - Calafiori earned praise for his performances in the tournament.

His involvement in Euro 2024 means that the defender has not yet returned to pre-season training with his teammates. He has instead been given extra time off.

The 22-year-old has posted an update on his Instagram stories showing how he’s spending his extra time away from training. He has posted a short video showing a deck, some sun lounger beds, and the sea in the sunset while on holiday. It is unknown when he is due to be back in training with Bologna, but it seems that he is currently enjoying his time off, with the post hinting that a transfer is not close to being completed just yet.

It has been reported that Edu and Edu are keen to complete the transfer in time for Calafiori to Mikel Arteta. The Gunners depart on Sunday, July 21, which gives the club 11 more days to sort and finalise a deal.

If a deal is done then it could mean exits for Jakub Kiwior and Aleksander Zinchenko. Arsenal are said to have received interest from Serie A clubs for Kiwior.
