Rio Ferdinand reveals why Nemanja Vidic quit Man United WhatsApp group straight away
Nemanja Vidic left a Manchester United WhatsApp group because he couldn't tolerate the amount of notifications he was receiving.
Speaking on 'Rio Ferdinand Presents', alongside former United striker Dimitar Berbatov, the trio found themselves discussing their life in the United dressing room. The three club legends agreed with one another that they missed the camaraderie of being together every day in training.
Ferdinand then revealed that the ex-players have a WhatsApp group in a bid to keep the friendships from their playing days in good health. However the former England international lifted the lid on Vidic's very short stay in the group after the Serbian couldn't live with the amount of notifications he was receiving - with Ferdinand suggesting they exchanged "hundreds" of messages in the group.

"Vida (Vidic) came in for ten minutes then left," Ferdinand said. "How long did you come in for? One day maybe? He didn't like the notifications, the messages coming through - a hundred messages."
Berbatov then interjected to tell his former team-mate that he could still be part of the group and simply silence his notifications. The Bulgarian forward also opened up on how the group made him feel like he was still in the dressing room, and referencing his own reputation as United's quiet man, also found time to poke fun at Vidic's luddite-style.
"It's a metaphor for the dressing room so you should come back," Berbatov said to Vidic. "Change with time, you need to speak. (Laughing) In a way it's like me progressing and you regressing."
However, Vidic did admit that he missed the humour, and even the verbal sparring - a detail most United fans will not find surprising, with the former defender's reputation for being a hard man well-known. He added: "That's the fun part of the dressing room, the arguing and the jokes. Obviously I was not the one making many jokes but I was happy to be there listening."
However, a few former players will not be surprised to hear that Vidic was not one to play dressing room jester. One time United goalkeeper Ben Foster once explained why he dreaded training sessions with Vidic due to his fierce nature on the pitch.
Foster made 23 appearances for the Red Devils in a five-year stay at Old Trafford. Reflecting on his days with the Red Devils on the Squeaky Bum Time podcast, he opened up on the dark side of the ex-Serbian international.
"Just talking about Nemanja, off the pitch he was fairly quiet wasn't he," Foster said. "But on the pitch, in training, that guy was a scary bloke, honestly.
"Horrible, honestly he did not care. If we were playing a five-a-side or six-a-side or something, if you were on his team, I used to think: 'Please don't be on Nemanja's team, please don't'.
"Because if we didn't win, if I let a goal in that he thinks I should have done better with, he was letting you know and he would dig you out and he was after everybody. Honestly, he was horrible in training but off the pitch completely different."
Vidic was incredibly successful during his eight years at Old Trafford. The centre-back won five Premier League titles, three League Cups and a Champions League under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Berbatov meanwhile signed for the Red Devils in September 2008 from Tottenham for just over £30million. The striker went on to score 48 goals for United and won the Premier League twice, the League Cup and FIFA World Club Cup.
He also represented United in two ill-fated Champions League finals where Sir Alex's men lost to Barcelona on both occasions.
