Roy Keane delivers verdict on Mohamed Salah latest Liverpool future admission

Roy Keane believes that Mohamed Salah is "showing another side to his personality" after speaking out over his Liverpool future. The Egyptian, following last Sunday's win over Southampton, admitted after the game that he is yet to receive an offer from the club over a new contract.

"Well, we are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I'm probably more out than in," Salah conceded. "You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future."

Salah, who has just over six months left on his contract, received a mixed response to his comments, with some people defending him, while others including Jamie Carragher slammed the Liverpool forward. Carraghe admitted he was "very disappointed" with him for going public over his situation.

And now, after Liverpool's 2-0 win over City on Sunday, Salah spoke once again about his future. The 32-year-old, who scored once and grabbed an assist against Pep Guardiola's side, admitted that it could be his final game against City at Anfield, claiming that the "atmosphere was incredible" and he "doesn't take it for granted".

After Salah's latest admission, Keane delivered his verdict on the contract situation and how open he has been about his future in recent weeks. "Even over the last few weeks and with the interview after he is a bit chirpy with his contract stuff," the ex-Manchester United midfielder told Sky Sports.

"He is showing another side to his personality, and he has done that in the last year or two when he was taken off in a few big games for Liverpool with Klopp. He is showing that other side to him that he obviously cares about the game.

"Ultimately he is a world class player and in a great position with Liverpool and his contract situation. And he is producing and what I would give him credit for when there's a contract situation going on with the players.

"It's out in the open and people are talking about him and criticising and saying he is this and he's selfish or whatever it might be. But he is turning up. The real top players will put that to the side and go 'I am going to produce in the big games'. And that is why I take my hat off to him."

Micah Richards added: "I would pay him, not what he wants, but you can't let him go for free. He is 33 when the contract is ready. Give him two years until 35. The difference is now, historically you would say it's too long because players are slowing down. He's in great shape."
