The final international break of the year means we are edging closer to the January transfer window opening and Manchester United could be busy in the market.

Ruben Amorim is in the door at Old Trafford and after assessing the United squad, he will have a better idea about the business needed in January. Despite spending over £200million in the summer, Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe may need to splash the cash again.

Now that Amorim has officially started his reign in Manchester, the transfer rumours are expected to intensify between now and 2025. Here is a round-up of the latest gossip going around.

Amorin's double Sporting raid

Viktor Gyokeres is the obvious name linked with a move to United but according to the Daily Mail, Pedro Goncalves and Geovany Quenda are two names that could be on Amorim's radar. On Goncalves previously, the United boss said: "He can play for any team in the world and with any player, because he is a great player. I could take him anywhere."

MEN says: "We have to expect this to become the norm now. If a Sporting CP player scores a hat-trick, expect him to be linked with a move to Old Trafford. Goncalves, who previously played for Wolves, replaced Bruno Fernandes at Sporting and is well-established as one of their better players. Quenda, a teenage forward, is attracting interest from many teams so you can see why Amorim would be keen to bring him to England."

Alvaro Fernandez return hint

Alvaro Fernandez, who left United for Benfica in the summer, has been linked with a return to Old Trafford in the aftermath of Amorim's arrival. Now, the 21-year-old has sparked excitement among supporters by liking an Instagram post of Amorim arriving in Manchester on Monday.

MEN says: "Now this could simply be nothing. A former player likes the post of a new manager. However, the reported interest on Amorim's part does add some spice to it. Everyone knows that United are short at left-back and it could be the popular case of players gradually teasing their transfer preference via the use of cryptic social media messages."
