Manchester United's players will understand that once a new boss is appointed, plenty of things are set to change.

From Ineos' perspective, there is an expectation that Ruben Amorim will make sweeping changes to all aspects of the football project at Old Trafford after a disastrous start to the campaign under Erik ten Hag. From training regimes to tactics, everything is set to be overhauled.

The biggest change we are likely to see straight away is United's formation. Amorim had great success with a 3-4-3 formation at Sporting and transitioning the Reds into this system will be top of his agenda.

The issue is to implement this formation expertly, United need to have wing-backs in their squad and currently there are few players who fit that bill. As such, there has been speculation as to whether wingers or full-backs will be moulded into that role, at least to begin with.

Antony lined up at right wing-back during training exercises this week, which potentially indicated Amorim's plan, but in his press conference on Friday, it seemed the new head coach has other ideas. He said: "I don't want to say too much, but you have to use both [full-backs and wingers as wing-backs] because you have different games.

"We should start with full backs, because to teach a winger to defend is harder." That would suggest Diogo Dalot will be preferred as right wing-back on Sunday while Noussair Mazraoui fills in at left wing-back while Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia continue the final stages of their recovery.

Fitting square pegs into round holes is not ideal and it would explain interest in Geovany Quenda. The Lisbon winger is a player that Amorim managed to mould into that wing-back role and could be a sign of what is to come for some in the United squad in the future.

But for now, it is safe to assume that full-backs will be playing as wing-backs this weekend.
