What Ruben Amorim did when he arrived at Carrington to start work as Manchester United head coach
Ruben Amorim met key Manchester United staff at Carrington on Monday afternoon as he began work as the club's new head coach.
The 39-year-old signed off at Sporting in style on Sunday, engineering a comeback from 2-0 down to beat Braga 4-2 and ensure they maintained a perfect record of 11 wins from 11 games in the league. At 11am on Monday, Amorim and five members of staff that are joining him at United - Carlos Fernandes, Adélio Candido, Paulo Barreira, Emanuel Ferro, and Jorge Vital - boarded a private jet at Beja airport, arriving at Manchester at around 1.45pm.
Amorim then went straight to Carrington and was greeted outside the main entrance of the training ground by chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.

That trio showed Amorim around the facility, which is undergoing a £50m upgrade this season, before he held meetings with key members of staff later in the afternoon. The members of United's first-team squad not on international duty were expected at Carrington on Monday.
Amorim also met with Ruud van Nistelrooy, who saw his four-game stint as caretaker manager come to an end with a 3-0 victory against Leicester City on Sunday. Van Nistelrooy oversaw three wins and a draw during his time in charge and has made it clear he would like to stay on the coaching staff under Amorim, but his departure has now been confirmed.
Van Nistelrooy's fellow assistant Rene Hake has also left the club, as have goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar and analyst Pieter Morel. Amorim has held meetings with staff today but can't get on the grass at Carrington to start coaching until his visa arrives, and he could only complete that process after arriving in England. United expect that to happen swiftly and efficiently.
