Ruben Amorim gives three clues about Manchester United future amid major transfer hint
Manchester United have finally confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new head coach - with the 39-year-old signing an initial contract until 2027.
Amorim will remain with his current club, Sporting Lisbon, until November 11 before then taking up his position at Old Trafford. He will become the sixth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
The title of 'head coach' is a first for the United - marking a clear indication the new footballing structure installed by Ineos maintains ultimate control over recruitment. Until now, Amorim has remained coy on the saga leading to his appointment, but in a recent press conference around Sporting's latest league match he went into more detail.

Amorim is committed to the long-term
"The season started, we started very well, and then Manchester United came, they pay above the compensation clause and the president defends the club's interests," Amorim explained.
"I never discussed anything with the president. For three days, I said I wanted to stay until the end of the season, but then I was told it was not possible. It was now or never or Manchester would go for another option. So, I had three days to make my mind up, to make a decision that changes radically my life."
The conviction in committing to a move to Old Trafford is a clear sign that United's offer is one he's been waiting for. The 39-year-old has long flirted with a move to the Premier League and has previously been linked to United's neighbours Manchester City, Liverpool and West Ham United.
His decision to choose United over several other opportunities should excite supporters. A coach who is widely- regarded as one of the very best in European football clearly relishes the challenge to take them back to the top, which is exactly the enthusiasm United needs.
He will do things his own way
Amorim also hinted that his new role gives him the remit to do things his own way - which could be an indication of the style he intends to adopt at the club. The Portuguese coach is known for his intense possession-based 3-4-3 system, which could suit United's current crop of players well, once they get used to it.
"I've had other opportunities - the president and [director of football] Hugo Viana can confirm this. It's not the first or the second time that I have been requested by another team and I don't want another team," said Amorim.
"After Sporting I wanted that one, Manchester [United] - and I want that context, because that context allows me to do things my way and the club [in] believes me that way."
Expect no big signings in January
He also confirmed that he doesn't intend to raid Sporting of their current players in January giving United fans a clue into what his first transfer window could look like - at least for now.
"[Viktor] Gyokeres costs €100 million, and it's very difficult," added Amorim to the media. "I'm not going to pick up any Sporting player in January."
It means supporters could be forced to wait until next summer before Amorim truly starts the rebuild, by bringing in his own signings. Most of the current squad were brought in by former manager Ten Hag and his successor's first task will be to try and get more from them.
