Ruben Amorim is the new manager of Manchester United and his appointment will lead to questions over what comes next for Jadon Sancho.

The English forward is currently on a season-long loan at Stamford Bridge after spending the second half of last term at Borussia Dortmund. football.london understands the Blues also have an obligation to buy Sancho next summer.

It's been a mixed start for the 24-year-old at Chelsea with three assists across six appearances but no goals. The former Manchester City academy star has not played since the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool on October 20.

With Chelsea having an obligation to sign the winger permanently, Amorim's arrival will likely have little impact on Sancho at Chelsea. Unless things go badly wrong for him over the next few months and the Blues find a way to end his loan spell early, he won't return to Old Trafford - although this is extremely unlikely.

Whether he would fit into Amorim's system at United in that scenario remains to be seen. With the Portuguese preferring to use a back three, could he potentially play as one of two number 10's in a 3-4-2-1 formation? There seems little possibility of him being used at wingback.

Sancho's work rate has occasionally been used as a stick to beat him with, and that wouldn't be tolerated under Amorim. If there are any doubts over him buying into Amorim's philosophy, Sancho would either be sold or sent out on loan again.

Sancho will not be available for Sunday's clash against United, with Enzo Maresca confirming that the forward has suffered from illness this week.

"We are looking good," Maresca told reporters on Friday. "The players, they are all available. Except for Jadon [Sancho], he has been ill in the last few days but he cannot play anyway."

Even if Sancho was fit enough to play, he would still not be available for Chelsea to face United. This is due to him being ineligible to face his parent club during a loan spell.
