Ruben Amorim has 'urgent' Manchester United plan for Ruud van Nistelrooy future

Ruben Amorim will see to Ruud van Nistelrooy's Manchester United future as a priority upon his arrival in England on Monday. The new head coach will first oversee his final Sporting CP match on Sunday evening.

United, themselves, face Leicester City earlier on Sunday. This will be Van Nistelrooy's last in charge as caretaker manager at Old Trafford.

What comes next for the Dutchman, though, is uncertain. Amorim is expected to bring a handful of staff to Manchester with him, as is standard. It is not yet clear if there will be room for Van Nistelrooy, who joined Erik ten Hag's backroom staff as assistant over the summer.

Van Nistelrooy has made a big impact at United, impressing players and bringing supporters together during a tough start to the season. With previous experience as a head coach himself, there is a suggestion that he will not accept being just a small part of the wider United group under Amorim. That is all set to be resolved swiftly, though.

The Mirror reports that Amorim will meet with Van Nistelrooy urgently in order to decide how is best to move forward. Van Nistelrooy, himself, is open about what could happen.

“Let’s wait and see how that goes," he said of meeting face-to-face with Amorim for the first time. "I am calm to be fair, I am trusting the process."

Speaking in his final pre-match press conference of this mini-reign, he added: "I believe the outcome will be good because I believe that as long as there is no news, I am here at Manchester United, so that is my focus. I am calm in that sense and whenever the communication will take place, I will see.

"But obviously we know what the timeframes are so I am aware of that and for me it is tomorrow’s training session and Sunday two o’clock is the only thing that is on my mind to be fair."

United, Amorim, and Van Nistelrooy will have two weeks before the impact is truly felt due to the international break. All parties will be keen to have the air cleared sooner rather than later and that now looks likely to be the case.
