Russell Anderson confident Aberdeen can keep up title challenge with Celtic
Aberdeen legend Russell Anderson is confident his old club can keep up the pace with Celtic and pile on the pressure during the title race.
Under Jimmy Thelin there has been plenty to sing about at Pittodrie, with the Dons having won 10 and drawn one of their 11 games so far to sit neck and neck with the Hoops at the Premiership summit.
It's been nearly 40 years since Aberdeen lifted the title, back in the glory days of the Sir Alex Ferguson era, and Anderson still remains the last Dons captain to lift silverware - the 2014 League Cup trophy.

But Anderson sees potential in the Dons to go the distance and reckons his former club can get the job done against anyone on 'any given day.'
Speaking to BBC Sport, Anderson said: "I think they can sustain the challenge. Of all the games I have seen so far, I think they are good enough to beat anyone on any given day.

"They have a lot of confidence at the moment and the manager, I have heard him already, it is the old cliche of taking one game at a time. He will be reminding the players about what they are actually doing to allow them to win the games rather than thinking too far ahead.
"So if they continue in that vein and can keep everyone fit, there is nothing to suggest they can’t sustain this for the season.
"And it would be really interesting to see, if they are still neck and neck with Celtic maybe after another 10, 20 games, what that would look like for the run-in."

Anderson is back in the Granite City tonight for the Scottish Masters, which are set to be shown live on BBC Scotland.
Legends from Aberdeen, Celtic, Rangers and Dundee United will battle it out at P&J Live for the crown, and Anderson hopes Thelin's positivity can rub off on his team of Dons icons.
He added: "There is a feel-good factor about the city when it comes to football at the moment which is nice to see and feel. Hopefully some of that we can take advantage of on Thursday night."
