Manchester United caretaker manager Ruud van Nistelrooy praised five players following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

United were forced to settle for a point against the Londoners, despite taking a 70th-minute lead through Bruno Fernandes. He turned the ball home from the penalty spot after Rasmus Hojlund was clattered inside the box by Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

However, United were pegged back just four minutes later when Moises Caicedo, who had enjoyed an excellent game, fired home a brilliant volley after the Reds failed to deal with a corner.

United had chances in the closing stages but Alejandro Garnacho and Fernandes failed to hit the target. United have now won just one of their last six Premier League matches.

Despite earning just a point, Van Nistelrooy singled out some of his players for praise.

Speaking to Sky Sports in his post-match interview, Van Nistelrooy said: "I felt slightly disappointed that we didn't take the three points. This is the way forward for this group of players and I saw some excellent performances today.

"I have to say, from the back, in the centre, that Lisandro [Martinez] and Matthijs [De Ligt] did a great job. I think Noussair Mazraoui had an excellent game and Casemiro is doing a great job.

"Bruno took the responsibility [to take the penalty] as he was involved in all of the attacks. I don't think anyone missed out today."
