Ruud van Nistelrooy reveals when Manchester United are set to decide on his future
Ruud van Nistelrooy expects to be told if he will be staying at Manchester United by Monday at the latest.
Van Nistelrooy's interim tenure ended with a 3-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford that also ensured the Dutchman's four-game spell ended unbeaten.
Ruben Amorim will officially start as the inaugural United head coach on Monday but it is unclear if the Portuguese will retain Van Nistelrooy, fellow assistant coach Rene Hake and goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar, who all joined the club in the summer.
"I appreciated the clear communication of the club, that it was interim for the short term," Van Nistelrooy said. "It could've been one or two games even, that was the first communication, and they kept me in the loop and said okay, it's gonna be four [games].

"For me, it is important to have that clarity and I appreciated that and in the end the most important thing is this football club, and I'm here to support that in my role.
"And, as I said, I want to continue doing that in the future and now also the communication was after the block of four games there will be communication towards you and your colleagues who are in an uncertain situation. And I expect to hear today or tomorrow."
Van Nistelrooy was serenaded by United supporters throughout their first home league win since the first day of the season and the 48-year-old approached the Stretford End at full-time.
United won three and drew one under Van Nistelrooy, scoring 11 goals and keeping two clean sheets. At full-time against Leicester, United were only four points off fourth place in the table.
Van Nistelrooy said his bonding with the matchgoers at full-time offered 'closure'.
"I can only describe that moment, how I felt, and as a closure of this block of four games, it felt like closure for that period and the future is open, that's the way I felt.
"It was a moment, it was a beautiful moment to be able to share that with the supporters and special.
"I felt like closing this period down, if you say it like that, and basically it was a moment here and now, and that was a beauty of the moment in my opinion, where circumstances came together.
"It was a beautiful moment and it was gratitude from my side to them and the reception I was able to receive was unbelievable. So I can only thank them enough."
