Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs was pictured in the Salford City dugout during Saturday's 2-1 win over Shrewsbury in the FA Cup.

The 50-year-old - who stepped down from his role as Wales manager in June 2022 - is a part-owner of the League Two side alongside Gary Neville, Phil Neville, David Beckham, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.

Giggs became the director of football at Salford earlier this year, taking his first job in football since leaving his post with Wales. His departure came prior to being cleared in court of allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend and her sister.

Following his appointment at Salford, Giggs has often kept away from the pitch and sat in the stands. However, he was spotted on the field in the warm up at Fleetwood and against Shrewsbury.

Giggs then watched both of those matches in the dugout with manager Karl Robinson. According to The Sun, the United legend could be set to get more involved in the playing side.

There is no suggestion that Giggs is planning to come out of retirement, but he could be set for a more hands-on role and potentially join the management team with Robinson and his staff.

Salford booked their place in the second round of the FA Cup with a narrow victory over their League One opponents thanks to a fine brace from veteran midfielder Matty Lund.

Speaking after the game, Robinson said: "To put in a performance like that is a testament to the players. Together, they’ve shown a style of play that is a credit to the football club.

"We won our duels and we were aggressive. We need to score more goals though, but in the last few games we have given ourselves the opportunity to see out the game.

"On the pitch, we have played two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old, this is really important for this football club, who we are and who we want to be. I am very proud – it was a tremendous win, and I look forward to the next round."
