Sam Lammers Rangers transfer value soars as FC Utrecht top scorer named Eredivisie POTM

Sam Lammers may have added a zero onto the end of his transfer fee this summer after the Utrecht top scorer was named Eredivisie player of the month for April.

The Rangers outcast has enjoyed the loan stint in his home country and recently broke a Dutch record by becoming the first player to score in seven consecutive outings. Those goals helped him towards the monthly gong he picked up, as confirmed by the club earlier today, and that could see Utrecht's desire to keep him on a permanent basis hit a bit of a snag.

Gers boss Philippe Clement has refused to be drawn on the 27-year-old's future in recent weeks while Utrecht boss Ron Jans has expressed his hopes of signing him beyond the loan spell.

But now, after he was awarded for his form - in which he hit five goals in four games throughout April - his price tag will only have increased.

Lammers has nine goals in total from 15 appearances since his move back to Netherlands having endured a difficult spell in Glasgow before that.
