Saudi Arabia have been eliminated from the 2022 World Cup after being defeated by 2-1 by Mexico in their final group game. They ended the tournament bottom of Group C on three points, as Poland and Argentina progressed.

The Green Falcons had kicked off their World Cup campaign with one of the greatest upsets in the competition's history. with a comeback win over Argentina.

Saudi Arabia were then beaten by Poland in the second group game though, when a missed penalty and glaring defensive error cost them dear.

For much of the current Saudi Arabia squad, that was their first and only taste of World Cup campaigns given they failed to qualify in both 2010 and 2014.
